The much-awaited 2008 Mercury Sable models have already been launched in the market. The latest line-up has been designed on the Montego platform. It provides a much quieter ride than the almost identical Montego. In fact, the new look of the models is truly a head turner and can be the reason of envy for others. Body Styles

This year, the Sable nameplate is available in both all-wheel and front-wheel drive for both the Base and Premier models. All the fours models are designed to accommodate five passengers. The exterior body of the car has beautiful colors, such as alloy clearcoat metallic, black clearcoat, dark ink blue, dune pearl clearcoat metallic, light ice blue, light sage, light tundra clearcoat metallic, merlot clearcoat metallic, oxford white clearcoat and silver birch clearcoat metallic.

Exterior Body

The stylish look of the Sable nameplate is highlighted with a bold face, high-arching silhouette with a high belt-line and simple character lines that run from the blunted prow towards the short tail. The front side features vertical grille bars in satin chrome tucked between huge corner headlights containing projector-beam lamps. The back section has large light-emitting diode (LED) lamps. Moreover, the Sable has a long wheelbase of 112.9 inches. The exterior body measures 202.1 inches long and it is 74.5 inches wide, while it is 61.5 inches tall.

Power Under The Hood

All the four models get power from a standard Duratec 3.5 liter engine that delivers an estimated 260 horsepower and 245 pound-feet of torque. The engine is mated with a six-speed automatic transmission. This V6 engine operates more efficiently and gives a fuel economy of 17 mpg for the city and 24 mpg for the highway in the Sable FWD models and 18 and 28 mpg respectively for the Sable AWD models. Even with the excellent fuel economy and additional power and performance, the new Sable models are quite similar to the defunct Montego model.

Smooth Driving

The new Mercury Sable also gives a quiet and confident ride. This is done with the help of the revised MacPherson-strut front suspension with ten percent more travel, new dampers and spring rates. It has also retuned with an independent coil-over rear suspension. Moreover the new power steering system with the help of an intelligent electric pump provides additional steering wheel tasks during parking. The award-winning, 3.5-liter V-6 engine makes the machine quite powerful on the road. It also has four-wheel ABS, four disc brakes including two ventilated discs, electronic brake distribution, electronic traction control through ABS & engine management, immobilizer and space saving steel rim internal spare wheel.
